We can barely believe it as four weeks has flown past so quickly, but we are already into the last week at the FIFA World Cup 2010. The final will be held at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday July 11 and the kick off time is scheduled for 8:30 pm local time, or see World Clock here for the time wherever you are.
We’ve been trying to find you some details of the closing ceremony which will take place before the final match and so far there is very little information, but one thing we have discovered is that Shakira, the Colombian singer-songwriter, and special guest Freshlyground will be performing, the No. 1 hit, “Waka Waka”, according to PR Newswire.
“Waka Waka” was the Official Song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup and apparently it’s the fastest-selling and biggest-selling World Cup song in recent times, selling over one million singles. Proceeds are going to FIFA’s Official Campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which is “20 Centers for 2010.”
With such little information to go on about the closing ceremonies it does seem quite precise that the time for Shakira’s performance is 6:42 pm local time and we’d love to know what else is going to happen between then and the final itself. For more on this go to prnewswire.com. What have you thought of the World Cup so far and who do you think is going to win? We’d be interested in your comments.
